Wyoming has issued an emergency effective until Feb. 19 because of low supplies of propane that have disrupted delivery times and commerce. After a delay of several months, Quebec will soon be joining the rest of Canada in enforcing the country’s new electronic logging device mandate. According to a report from The Canadian Press, an ELD will be required on heavy vehicles traveling through the province beginning April 30.

NHTSA Begins Trailer Side-Underride-Guard Rule Process
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has started the process for a potential proposal to require side underride guards on newly manufactured trailers. Legislation seeking to require side-underride guards on trailers has previously been introduced in Congress, but the bills have not gained any traction. Such bills were generally opposed by trucking groups, including the American Trucking Associations and Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, but were supported by safety groups and law enforcement.
